Azalea Bonsai has been loved by Japanese since probably 1000 years in Japan. Old picture scrolls described in the mediaeval times in Japan show us the tradition of Bonsai style planting. The photo is one of Japan Azalea Exhibition opened at the Imperial Ueno Park, Tokyo in May last year.
My father also loved them and made fantastic Bonsai in the garden, where I remember so dearly after half a century. He always had a design notebook for tree arrangement of Bonsai style.
He made many azalea Bonsai alike Bonsai-making lovers, but his most wonderful work was probably at the Bonsai of zelkova trees, that were natural planting at the west area of Tokyo, and his works were really seemed to be ithe coppice of the suburbs of Tokyo.
